Private maternity care in New York

We list 13 private maternity care in New York. Published prices start at $31,276.

Private hospitals, maternity wings and midwifery practices: what antenatal care and birth cost, neonatal care levels and how many babies they deliver.

Costs are for a straightforward birth and are a guide only: caesareans, complications and neonatal stays cost more, and estimates come from secondary sources, not the provider's price list. Neonatal levels: in the UK, Level 3 (NICU) cares for the sickest and most premature babies; in the US the scale runs to Level IV. Ask your midwife or doctor what level of care your pregnancy needs.

What a hospital birth costs in New York without insurance

  • •Hospital stay for an uncomplicated vaginal birth: median cash price $23,529 across 17 hospitals in the New York metro area (MS-DRG 807).
  • •Hospital stay for an uncomplicated C-section: median $32,507 across 22 hospitals (MS-DRG 788).
  • •Obstetrician or midwife care from pregnancy to after the birth is billed separately: median about $4,595 (CPT 59400 / 59510).
  • •Expect separate bills for the hospital stay, the clinician, anaesthesia and the baby’s own stay. Ask each hospital for its all-inclusive self-pay maternity package.
  • •If you’re uninsured or paying yourself, US hospitals must give you a written Good Faith Estimate when you ask.
  • •Prices published by individual hospitals vary widely and some files are incomplete, so treat these medians as a starting point, not a quote.
